Many of you in the DC area have already heard about this, but as of January 12 at noon, WHFS, the radio station that has been bringing progressive/alternative rock to the DC area for 20+ years and the annual purveyor of the HFStival, has changed format to a Spanish-language station named Zol. The Washington Post has coverage of the change.
I, for one, am sad to see it go. Although I had been more likely to listen to WIYY (a smaller, and more progressive station), I liked HFS as an alternative to the stations that were being programmed directly by ClearChannel.
